The South-South Youth Initiative (SSYI) has raised the alarm that investors and business owners were leaving Rivers State due to the ongoing political crisis in the state.

SSYI leader, Saviour Imeade Oscar, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Saturday.

Oscar called on indigenes, residents and friends of the state, to wade into the face-off between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

He said: “I have called you to speak through you to the world on the political drama in Rivers State, the consequences of allowing it to degenerate into a conflagration and the urgent need for all of us, indigenes of the state, residents, investors and friends of the state, to quickly wade in on both sides in order to restore calm to the state.

“This state is our collective heritage that was bequeathed to us from the selfless struggles of our founding fathers.

“We must, therefore, not allow this unnecessary tension and fear to continue to mount in our state because as it is raging now, investors and business owners are beginning to move away from our state to safer places.”
