The association hailed the exemplary leadership of the Board of Trustees (BoT) under the chairmanship of Joe Kyari Gadzama (SAN) and the vice chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, in addressing the challenges facing the group and the institution.

It announced the formal endorsement of the recent decisions by the BoT, the Mohammed Bulama-led Caretaker Committee of UNIMAID Alumni in collaboration with Shugaba to dissolve the executive committees at both the national and state levels.

The publicity secretary of the FCT chapter of the association, Musa Ibrahim Musa, said the step is a stride towards correcting the inconsistencies in “our association’s governance, particularly those that surfaced during the inaugural annual general meeting (AGM) under the leadership of the former national executive committee members.”

Musa said the formation of a five-man caretaker committee led by Dr Mohammed Bulama, the director-general of FRCN, members of the committee include Dr Umar Bindir, Dr. Mike Omeri, Sonia Chikelu and Sarah Jeta Atumga marked a “new phase in our journey towards rejuvenation and progressive governance.”

The statement reads: „The establishment of the five-man Dispute Resolution and Mediation Committee, chaired by Prof. Musa Mohammed Deji, with Princess Joy Okoro, Immamudeen Talba, Hamisu Medugu and Tabji Simon, as members, symbolises our commitment to harmonise divergent views and foster a spirit of cooperation.

This committee is not just a body for resolving conflicts; it is a beacon of hope for a unified future, steering us towards our collective aim of maintaining the integrity and advancing the interests of our alma mater.

„The concerns raised by the FCT chapter during the inaugural AGM from entry denials to procedural discrepancies were not just issues but alarms signaling the need for a more structured approach to our association‘s governance,” it said.
