General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended the appointment of Pastor Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland in Oyo State.
The renowned clergyman who replied his critics for not stopping Pastor Olaoye from vying for the stool at Baptist Conference Beulah Centre in Ogbomoso, venue of the interdenominational thanksgiving service for the new Soun yesterday, said he knew Oba Olaoye was born to be a king.
He said when (Olaoye) came to inform him about the development, he told him to go and pray.
Adeboye said, “He (Olaoye) came back and said he has not heard anything, I told him to go back and pray again. After a while, he came back and told me God has spoken, ‘I have heard him loud and clear that I should go
“It was then that I told him to go because it has been destined, I knew that long ago but I want God to speak to him directly.
“To my critics, if I said no and God said yes, whose word is the final? God of course. So, I cannot stop him because Pastor Ghandi Olaoye was destined to be a king even before he was born and thank God it is coming into fruition,” the cleric said.
Counselling the monarch, Adeboye, who took his sermon from Act ls 15 :18, urged Oba Olaoye to embrace people and promote peace and unity among his subjects.
The general overseer anointed the king and his wife and prayed for his peaceful and prosperous reign as Soun.
Addressing the congregation, Oba Olaoye described the RCCG general overseer as his spiritual role model.
“Pastor Adeboye has been a father to me. It is an unforgivable sin if you report me to Pastor Adeboye; I don’t like people reporting me to Pastor Adeboye. We have travelled the whole world together and I have watched him closely and I see a genuine man of God,’’ he said.
