Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had presented the appropriation bill to the assembly last week where the Speaker, Hon. Bathiya Wesley, assured him of its speedy passage.

The passage of the bill came after the consideration of the report of the Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation at yesterday’s plenary.

The report was presented by the chairman of the Finance Committee, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali), and after its adoption, the majority leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa) moved for the third reading of the bill and was seconded by the minority leader, Hon. Umar Suleiman Alkali (Yola North).

Mamuno commended the committee for doing a good job, saying that the people of the state have no cause to worry as the budget had been accorded due attention.

She urged the assembly to ensure that the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) adhere strictly to the recommendations while implementing their budget.

The lawmaker advised the MDAs to abide by the recommendations and promised that the doors of the members were opened for any assistance.

Wesley (speaker) said that the recommendations had been considered with few amendments.

He said the recurrent expenditure is N111.379 billion while the capital expenditure is N114.514, totaling N225.8billion for the services of the state in 2024.

He directed the clerk of the assembly to prepare a clean copy of the bill for Governor Fintiri’s assent.
