The federal government has disclosed that reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu across the various sectors of the economy are sowing the seeds of transformative change in the country.

Anticipating that the fruits of these efforts beginning to blossom in 2024, the federal government also said the reforms are not instantaneous miracles but deliberate steps towards building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

The minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this yesterday in Abuja while addressing an end-of-year world press briefing to showcase the key achievements of the current administration.

“In the economic realm, initiatives aimed at creating jobs, attracting investments, and fostering sustainable growth are taking root. As we move forward, we can expect to witness the tangible outcomes of these efforts, with increased economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, and a business environment conducive to innovation and prosperity,” he said.

He said President Tinubu’s dedication to addressing insecurity and creating a safer nation is steadfast, adding that the reforms implemented in this regard will contribute to restoring peace and security, fostering an environment where citizens can pursue their aspirations without fear.

“As we look ahead, let us embrace the spirit of hope and resilience. Change takes time, but every step forward is a testament to the progress we are making as a nation. The journey towards a better Nigeria is a collective endeavor, and your support and optimism are invaluable in this transformative process.

“Let us move into 2024 with hope in our hearts, knowing that the reforms of President Tinubu are laying the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future for all Nigerians,” he said.

The minister also outlined the central governing agenda, the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on eight priority objectives aimed at fostering inclusive growth, strengthening national security, achieving food security, and promoting sustainable development.

Idris emphasised Tinubu’s “bold move to remove the fuel subsidy, redirecting resources to critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.”

He acknowledged the challenges but assured ongoing efforts to alleviate short-term impacts and ensure long-term benefits, including wage increments, infrastructure support, and cash transfers.

On agriculture and food security, he said President Tinubu declared a state of emergency on food security, renaming the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
