The Kano State Police Command has declared Bahago Afah of Kuka Bulukiya in Dala Local Government Area of the state wanted for armed robbery, along with 72 others, who have been causing chaos and taking advantage of the situation to rob innocent people of their belongings.

Bahago was among the 662 repentant thugs granted amnesty by the state government about three months ago. They were promised rehabilitation and capacity-building by the government.

Recently, Bahago robbed Dan’azumi Dala of Rijiya Biyu, stealing N2 million in cash and a golden ring belonging to his daughter.

This announcement was made on Friday during a special briefing where the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usain Gumel, stressed that there would be no more tolerance for criminal activities. He declared a concerted effort involving all security agencies, vigilantes, PCRC, and community policing stakeholders to track down these individuals, apprehend them, and bring them to the police headquarters promptly.

“We are no longer extending an olive branch to these criminals; they are enemies of peace. Accordingly, we declare these 72 individuals as enemies of peace. There is no more room for repentance as some of them were tested and found to be untrustworthy,” he declared.

The CP expressed satisfaction with his team’s efforts in combating thuggery in the state, mentioning that there are a total of 662 individuals on the repentant thugs’ list.

Among them, 50 are serving as special constabulary, 50 are working with the fire service as Fire Ambassadors, 25 are volunteering with NSCDC, and another 25 are serving as Sanitation Ambassadors in collaboration with Kano State Government’s REMASAB Unit.

He further added, “Additionally, there have been multiple arrests, prosecutions, and the recovery of significant quantities of illegal weapons and illicit drugs. We have also dismantled several criminal networks planning to disrupt the peace.”
