Joshua Vs. Wallin: ‘Day Of Reckoning’ In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Holds Today

In the much-anticipated ‘Day of Reckoning’ event set to unfold in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, British boxing sensation Anthony Joshua gears up to face Swedish heavyweight, Otto Wallin, today in what promises to be a colossal showdown.

Following back-to-back wins against Jermaine Franklin in April and Robert Helenius in August, Joshua is set for his third bout of 2023, aiming for yet another victory against the formidable Wallin, known for his challenging southpaw stance.

Wallin’s sole defeat came against Tyson Fury in 2019, a fight where he notably gave the lineal champion a tough night, opening a deep cut above Fury’s eye in the third round. Despite the loss, Wallin’s resilience and prowess gained him respect within the boxing circles.

With Joshua boasting an impressive record of 26 wins and three losses, the British-Nigerian is hailed as the favourite to win this battle. However, Wallin’s skill set and determination are factors that cannot be underestimated.

The outcome of these matches is pivotal for future clashes, especially with Joshua and Deontay Wilder potentially eyeing a showdown in 2024 if they both secure victories against Wallin and Joseph Parker this weekend.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, acknowledged Wallin’s challenge due to his southpaw style but expressed confidence in Joshua’s ability to triumph, stressing the need for aggression in the fight.

Boxing legend Evander Holyfield highlighted that if the fight stretches to a decision, Joshua has the advantage, banking on his range and ability to control the bout.
