A former president of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Ladi Bala, has been appointed Nzubyalata Hama Batta (spokesperson to the Hama Batta) Chiefdom in Adamawa State.
A statement by the secretary of NAWOJ, Adamawa State chapter, Mrs Gloria Abutu, said Bala is the first woman to hold the title in the chiefdom.

NAWOJ, during a ‘thank you visit’ to His Royal Majesty, Humon Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke (Diyoshifoto, Tikulo Batta, Kpangashye) accompanied by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) chairman, Ishaka Donald Dedan, appreciated the monarch for the gesture bestowed on one of them.

The former NAWOJ president who served a four-year term, was elected at the 10th triennial delegate conference in Minna, Niger State.

Bala worked at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Yola before she was transferred to NTA Damaturu, Yobe State.
