As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) marked a milestone in its commitment to community development and access to clean water.

This is as a state-of-the-art solar-powered borehole facility was officially commissioned for the benefit of residents of Avrugo Centre, Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area (LGA).

The project, a testament to BATNF’s dedication to sustainable initiatives, includes four solar panels, a robust 2.2Hp water pump, two 10,000-liter storage tanks, and strategically placed taps, covering a 70-square-meter area.

By harnessing solar energy, the facility not only addresses the immediate water needs of the community but does so in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner.

Addressing the gathering, BATNF General Manager, Oludare Odusanya highlighted the inclusivity and sustainability embedded in the project, while expressing pride in contributing to the well-being of the community, understanding the pivotal role that access to clean water plays in empowering individuals, promoting health, and fostering economic growth.

While extending gratitude to the Avrugo Centre community for their patience and collaboration throughout the project’s duration, the foundation said “The borehole serves as a symbol of progress and unity, showcasing the positive outcomes achievable when communities, government, and non-governmental organizations collaborate for a common cause.

“The completion of the borehole not only signifies improved health and enhanced livelihoods but also marks the beginning of a new chapter for Avrugo Centre. The community is poised to experience strengthened bonds and a brighter future.”

BATNF also acknowledged the efforts of its implementing partner, Eco-lead Imperial Engineering and Global Resources Limited, for ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
