SGF, Firm Provide Diarrhoea Treatment For Benue Children

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company, TYONEX Nigeria Ltd, has flagged off a free diarrhoea treatment programme to treat 10,000 children in Benue State.

The chief executive officer of   the pharmaceutical group, Dr Emmanuel Agba, who disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony at the LGED Primary Healthcare Wannune  explained that the programme is part of activities  marking the 70th birthday of Sen. George Akume.

According to him, “The partnership with the SGF to donate drugs for the free treatment of children under five years became necessary due to his concern for the plight of the vulnerable as seen in his service to humanity throughout his 70 years of existence.”

Agba said, “This gesture is to celebrate the humanitarian icon, Sen. Akume for the many milestones in his political journey as well as his dedication and hard work to service which has touch many   lives in different ways, your legacy will forever remain in the hearts of Benue people and Nigerians at large.”

In his remarks, secretary to the government of the federation, Senator Akume, who was represented by the rector, Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Dr Tyover Ashinya, commended Pharmacist Agba for the collaboration to save the lives of under five children  from diarrhoea which has claimed the lives of many children in the state.

While commending President Bola Tinubu for having Benue at heart, the SGF assured him of his continuous support to enable Benue take  its rightful position in the political space of  the country.

 

 

Also speaking, the caretaker committee chairman of Tarka local government area, Terna Ashirga, who was represented by the supervisory councillor for revenue, Prince Tyosoo Gandeorun, commended the initiative of the SGF in saving the lives of the incoming generation from diarrhea which is one among the killer diseases of children and sued for prayers to enable him succeed in his political career.

 

He assured of the council’s readiness to support the distribution of the drugs in the remaining wards of the local government to achieve the desired goal.

 

Earlier, the Ter Mbakor, HRH Chief Geoffrey Gandeorun  promised to mobilise his subjects to avail themselves with the rare opportunity to save the lives of  the under five children.
