The Amurie Unity Cultural Carnival progenitors have emphasised that the cultural show piece is channeled towards entrenching their rich cultural heritage, sustainable peace, development and enthronement of unity among the populace.
The organisers revealed that the theme of the cultural festival is “We Are Home” and powered by Eriri Care Foundation.
This was made known by the chairperson of Amurie Unity Cultural Carnival, Miss Ezinne Nwakuba (Zinny) while addressing journalists in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
She called on the populace to join hands with them in the forthcoming cultural carnival scheduled to hold from 28th – 30th December, 2023 in Amurie , Isu council area of the state.
Miss Nwakuba explained that the cultural festival is also aimed at showcasing their rich cultural heritage to the world, promote sustainable development, youth empowerment, and economic growth in Isu council area thereby attracting investors to the state and the rural area.
The chairperson elaborated on the highlights of the event to include; carnival parade by 2 band groups, cultural displays, Ogho, Ekeleke dance, Ekwe Aladimma, Nkwa love, Masquerade dance competitions and the presentation of cash prizes to winners of different competitions.
She stressed that one of the objectives of this carnival is to equip the youths with history and cultural knowledge for posterity, as long forgotten cultures will be displayed during the carnival which most people have not witnessed for the past twenty years.
Her words, “This is a reminder of the history and cultural heritage of our people and an attraction of Nigerians to invest in the community which is a fundamental ingredients for communal growth.”
