Odumosu Charges Civil Defence Officers On FCT Security

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday decorated 1,000 newly promoted senior officers, urging them to redouble efforts at addressing security challenges in the nation’s capital.

The commandant, Mr. Olusola Odumosu, in his remarks at the ceremony, commended the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and commandant-general of the corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the massive promotion under the present dispensation.

Odumosu said promotion of the officers was a testament to the many years of hard work, dedication and commitment to serve the nation, adding that it took a lot of courage, discipline and resilience to rise through the ranks. He added that the decorated officers had all shown exceptional commitment to duty, impressive skills, strategic thinking and deep understanding in the course of their careers.

While urging them to match their elevation with more hard work, dedication and efficiency in the discharge of their new task, the FCT commandant said their contributions to the fighting insecurity in the FCT were invaluable, and the authorities were confident that they would continue to serve the nation’s capital and Nigeria at large with honour and distinction.

While congratulating the officers, Odumosu, reminded them that “To whom much is given, much is expected’’ and enjoined them to see the promotion as a call for more critical roles.

He said, “Promotion comes from God alone; So, I want to urge the newly promoted officers to work and pray harder. I want to urge you to continue to work hard and not be found wanting.’

Recall that the federal government, through the Ministry of Interior, recently promoted over 21,000 to various ranks and cadres, out of the 29,000 officers of the Corps who wrote promotion examinations nationwide in 2023.
Dr Ahmed Audi had pushed for the promotion of the personnel before the board, arguing that many of the corps’ personnel had been stagnated for years, and in response, the board, chaired by the minister who approved 21,000 after their examinations.
