Islamic clerics yesterday gathered in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital to pray for peace and tranquility in the country.
The clerics offered the prayer for the country at a thanksgiving prayer organised in honour of non-executive director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya and Professor AbdulLateef Bako of the University of Abuja.
The prayer session which was at the instance of the Alaaya family was led by Sheikh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya.

The clerics also prayed to God to grant Nigeria economic buoyancy in the year 2024.
Imam Alaaya reminded those in positions of authority that it is only Allah that gives power, urging them not to be overwhelmed by their positions, “ because it’s not your making, but Allah’s will.”
In a brief sermon, Imam Mahmud Sulaiman Sakele, enjoined those in positions of authority to always seek Allah’s guidance to enable them succeed in office.
