The  group disclosed this in a communique issued after the election of Professor of Political Science, Dhikrullah Adewale Yagboyaju, as its president, at the 36th national conference, titled: “Nigeria and the Prospects of Socio-Economic Stability”, held in Lagos.

The group in its communique said though the country is blessed with abundant human and material resources but greediness, impunity and lack of institutional capacity to sanction offenders, has been the bane of the development of the country.

The group called on the federal government to embark on massive inculcation of moral ethos for restoration of social order and acceleration of economic prosperity in the country.

The communique read, “Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and material resources. Experts in the country have helped in fashioning socio-economic theories and development plans.

“However, the country is visibly confronted by the problems of high levels of poverty. crimes and criminality. In this light, it is a paradox of being rich yet being poor as a country. The problems were mostly traced to greediness, impunity and lack of institutional capacity to sanction offenders.

“The conference called on Muslims and other believers in the existence of God and in the reality of the day of judgment to return to the path of rectitude, in which one wants for himself what he wants for fellow human beings.

“Also, the family is implored to rise up to its responsibility of building a decent society, while the government is encouraged to embark on massive inculcation of moral ethos for restoration of social order and acceleration of economic prosperity.”
