The recent suspension of the minister of humanitarian and poverty alleviation, Betta Edu by President Bola Tinubu demonstrates his commitment to prioritising the Nigerian people, Daniel Bwala, a lawyer and spokesperson of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said.
Bwala disclosed this to State House correspondents yesterday after a meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Bwala who was the spokesman of Atiku during last year’s presidential election which Tinubu won.
He said Edu’s suspension was evidence that Tinubu is focused on accountability and good governance.
“Instead of protecting ministers that were allegedly reported to have committed infractions, he asked that the law should have its own course and suspended somebody without wasting time. That to me is impressive because it’s about the people,” Bwala stated.

Bwala noted that this decision, along with early efforts to reduce the cost of governance, shows Tinubu intends to live up to his campaign promises.
“What have we been talking about as citizens, if you don’t have personal grudge against someone, if it is a policy issue. When policies are going correctly…” Bwala said.
When asked if he was rejoining the APC, Bwala responded: “APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation, if supporting him will take me to APC so be it.”

The lawyer had been a supporter of President Tinubu before leaving the APC.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting the new administration, saying “I told him today, I am committing to play my part to support your administration, and I have no apologies to anybody.”

He reiterated his own commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s agenda for the nation, hinting he may return to the APC as a show of alignment.
“President Bola Tinubu is my motivation, if supporting him will take me to APC so be it,” Bwala asserted.
