The Cross River State Police Command, on Thursday evening, arrested an activist and former state chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Mr. Goddie Akpama, for attempting to convene a press conference in Calabar, the state capital.

Akpama was said to be warming up to hold the press conference where he would demand for the suspension and possibly arrest of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Metawalle, over alleged N70billion fraud while the latter was governor of Zamfara State.

The activist was warming up to convene the media parley under the aegis of National Movement for Defence of Democracy and Good Governance (NMDDGG) in Calabar, which ended up on a sour note as the policemen stormed the venue of the event and whisked him away.

The development brought tension and panic among journalists, who were already present at the venue for the press conference at Chinese Restaurant, Cross River State Housing Estate in Calabar.

LEADERSHIP, however, gathered that the former IPAC chairman was later released about three hours later with a warning against proceeding with the press conference.
