Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) is partnering International Rescue Committee (IRC) to end malnutrition among 34,000 children in the state.
The treatment which is targeted at children below five years consist of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) that would be administered on them.
The state deputy governor, Professor Farauta Kaletapwa, assured of government’s support during an interface with a delegation from IRC yesterday.
Farauta said the government is ever ready to provide an enabling environment for partners willing to support the developmental drive of the present administration for smooth execution of programmes that will impact the lives of the citizens.
She pointed out that malnutrition affects a child’s development at an early stage, assuring government partnership in fighting the scourge of malnutrition in the society.
The senior director, Governance Technical Unit of IRC, Dr Wale Osofisun, who represented the country director insisted that addressing malnutrition is paramount for a healthy and productive society.
He revealed that the committee has adopted simplified solutions in addressing both moderate acute and severe acute malnutrition, advocating for all hands to be on deck to achieve that.
The commissioner for health and human services, Mr Felix Tangwami, said the ministry and all other relevant agencies are ready to key into the programme as soon as it starts for the benefits of the citizens.
