Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule has said he has no hand in the travail of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s supporters arrested and detained by the Police in Nasarawa State during the recent protest in Lafia, the state capital.
Recall that 38 supporters of the main opposition party were arrested during the protest over the outcome of the recent Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the election of Governor Sule.
Reports quoted the PDP chairman in the state, Mr. Francis Orogu to have accused Governor Sule of being behind the arrest and detention of the protesters.

However, in a statement, yesterday, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba said the PDP chairman has not recovered from the shock of the party’s defeat at the Supreme Court and couldn’t “think straight”.

He said the PDP chairman’s allegation despite the clarification by tbe Commissioner of Police that the protesters’ action was in violation of the peace deal signed by both leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP smacked of mischief.
He said it was unfortunate that Mr. Orogu, “whose desperation for power put the protesters in trouble” will turn round to accuse the governor of a matter that is strictly within the purview of the law.
He cautioned the opposition party leadership against dragging the governor into a crisis it created for its own selfish interest.
