It was gathered that several other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash which involved a passenger bus belonging to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Ise Ekiti.

The accident, it was gathered, occurred along Ise-Afolu-Ikere road.

The occupants of the vehicle, who were mostly women, were said to be on their way to Ado Ekiti for an annual enrollment service.

The driver of the 18-seater bus allegedly lost control of the vehicle after one of the tyres burst, leading to its somersaulting several times.

Three women were said to have died on the spot while those who sustained injuries were rushed to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Confirming the accident, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ekiti State, Olusola Joseph, said that two persons died instantly, while 10 occupants were injured.

Joseph added that those that were injured had been rushed to hospital.

Speaking on the cause of the accident he said, “It was a tyre burst that was responsible for the accident involving the 18-seater bus.

“We will continue to appeal to motorists to keep to speed limits. They know the nature of the roads, so they should be very careful while driving on the roads.

“At the same time, they should keep to traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
