The Lagos State Police have arrested Olamilekan Morekeji for allegedly beating his ex-wife, Mary Ololuwa, and using a stone to inflict injuries on her over a dispute concerning their children.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

Hundeyin said that a case of domestic violence was reported to the Owode Onirin Police Division on Thursday at about 3.00 p.m. by the victim.

He mentioned that the victim was brought to the station by some sympathizers, bleeding from injuries allegedly inflicted on her face by the suspect.

The spokesperson stated that the victim narrated her ordeal to the police at the counter.

According to Hundeyin, the victim reported that around 2.00 p.m. on Thursday, while she was on her way to her shop around Bako Estate at Weighbridge Ajegunle, her ex-husband, Olamilekan Morekeji, confronted her and inquired about their children.

“She further stated that it took the intervention of some Samaritans to rescue her and bring her to the station, where she was immediately rushed to the hospital at Irawo.

“The suspect was arrested and is in custody. The victim was photographed, and the stone used to inflict the injuries was recovered as exhibit,” he said.

Hundeyin said that the case would be transferred to the Gender Unit of the command for further investigation.
