Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 198 suspects involved in illicit drug dealings after a raid in some graveyards and drug joints.

The spokesperson of the command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, in a statement he issued to journalists yesterday, said the arrest was made during the ongoing “Operation Hana Maye”, which was launched recently by the commander, Abubakar Idris, to combat drug abuse and trafficking.

Maigatari said among those arrested were 61 suspects, including 15 females in a club that had been transformed into an illicit drug joint.

He said the command also arrested 42 suspects in the Dan Agundi Graveyard, which had been identified as another location used for drug-related activities.

“The operation also dismantled drug joints in Sheka Graveyard and Sheka Obajana. These arrests demonstrate the command’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and eliminating drug trafficking hotspots in the state,” he said.

Maigatari said the command dislodged 21 drug joints during the course of the operation, which serve as hubs for drug trafficking and consumption, posing a threat to the safety and well-being of the community.

He added that the command recovered various drugs such as Exol-5, rubber solution, “suck and die”, cannabis and other dangerous substances.

While urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse and trafficking to the appropriate authorities, the command restated its commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
