Katsina State government has earmarked N74.5 billion for the construction of nine new roads within the state capital.

This was part of the resolution reached at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Government House, Katsina State, presided over by Governor Umar Dikko Radda.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the commissioner for works, housing and transport, Engr Sani Magaji Ingawa, said the drive was to enhance urban infrastructure to improve business activities across the city.

He added that the projects under the governor’s urban renewal programme were awarded to Chinese company, CCECC, with an anticipated completion timeline of two years.

In press statement, the governor’s chief press secretary, Ibrahim Muhammed Kaula, said, “Among the nine roads earmarked for development are the construction of the eastern bypass, stretching from Dutsinma Road, Kano Road, through Daura Road and terminating at Yandaki Village in Kaita local government area.

“Dualisation of roads from Katsina Central Mosque through Kofar Marusa, terminating at WTC Roundabout, and another from Yandaki-Shinkafi to Kofar Sauri and Airport Junction to the proposed bypass along Daura Road.

“Extension of dualisation from Barhim Estate to the proposed bypass along Mani Road, and from Water Board Roundabout through Kofar Sauri to Katsina Central Mosque.
