Information gathered revealed that on Sunday around 11:25pm, six gunmen descended on the community, evading the joint patrol presence of military personnel and policemen in the vicinity.

The assailants forcibly took two sisters, aged 16 and 14, through the nearby forests and hills and disappeared.

This recent abductions occurred just eight days after residents of the Chikakore community staged a protest at the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, lamenting the deplorable state of the major road connecting their community.

Residents described the worsening road condition as one of the factors contributing to the repeated incidents of kidnapping in the area.

Confirming the incident, a Police source revealed that the kidnappers targeted three children from the same household, taking two girls and one boy.

However, they sent back the boy with a chilling message for the father—a demand for a N30million ransom.

LEADERSHIP observed that the gunmen displayed a change in their modus operandi, opting for a silent entry without firing shots until their departure.

The father of the kidnapped girls, described as a front-liner in contributions to the community security, reportedly made several financial donations to support local security efforts.

The distraught mother attempted to plead with the kidnappers to allow her daughters to wear warmer clothings due to the cold night, but she was met with violence, resulting in the girls being taken away in their nightcloths.

Efforts by local vigilantes to trace the abductors proved futile as they disappeared along the railway line and into the rocky terrain.

The FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, when contacted, assured that the Police were working on obtaining details and would provide updates on the situation.
