The Governors of the North-West Region have resolved to reject any peace reconciliation with bandits, as Zamfara State commissions 2600 Community Protection Guards (CPG).

The Chairman of the North West Governors Forum and Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Umar Dikko Radda, announced this at the graduation and official commissioning of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.

Radda said that the governors have resolved to work together as a force to clear the region of banditry.

“We have resolved to work together as a team, despite political differences, to save our people from the menace of insecurity,” he added.

According to him, in the fight against banditry, there are no divisions such as All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), but only a unified North West.

He stressed that the wellbeing and progress of the region are the main concerns of the current leadership in the region.

Governor Radda maintained that, with the launching of the community protection guards in Katsina and Zamfara, the remaining states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano, and Kaduna would follow suit.

Governor Dauda Lawal expressed appreciation for the successful screening and training of the community protection guards to address the problem of insecurity in the state.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ending the act of banditry in the state and improving infrastructural developments.

LEADERSHIP reports that five governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina states, and the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State attended the official commissioning of the CPG.
