The Bafana Bafana of South Africa will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the semifinal of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after the former thrashed Capo Verde 2-1 on penalties late Saturday night.

The 90-minute regular time was barren with an additional 30 minutes of extra time producing no goal for either of the hard-fighting sides.

In a breath-taking penalty shootout, Capo Verde lost its first three consecutive penalties, including the fifth one, scoring only the fourth one, while South Africa only lost two and couldn’t take the last one as it was immaterial.
