Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has said surmounting current security challenges in the country requires that the Nigerian Army mobilises civil support in its whole of society approach to tackling the menace.
He said Nigerians are critical partners in the fight against security challenges in the country.
The COAS stated this while commissioning Civil-Military Cooperation projects executed by the Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Emmanuel Udiandeye at Bedia community in Obudu local government area of Cross River State.

In a statement by the director army public relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Lagbaja stated that awareness is a crucial factor in sustaining the idea of the Chief of Army Staff’s Special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation Projects under the Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) line of efforts.
He said the projects are always carefully conceptualised and executed to complement the states in providing basic amenities and infrastructure for Nigerians.

He stressed that the Army is not out to compete with any level of government, political or socio-cultural entity, adding that the idea of the projects was not to give any undue political advantage to senior officers, but to complement the government and communities’ efforts at enhancing the quality of life of the people.
