The Christ Army Church of Nigeria (CACN), has elevated a Port Harcourt-based journalist, Jerry Needam, to the position of a Reverend Canon of the church.
Also elevated to the rank of Reverend Canon is Uebari Gbaraneh Francis while Reverend Canon Joseph Johngbo was promoted to the position of an Archdeacon of the church.

The CACN was founded by a Nigerian, Garrick Deketima Sokari Braide in 1916.
In his address at the event, the Bishop of Bori Diocese of the church, Rt Reverend MacJob Mkparo, traced the historical journey of CACN, acknowledging the challenges faced since the time of Garrick Braide.
Mkparo emphasized God’s faithfulness in guiding the church through persecution and attacks.
He cautioned against pride and urged every member not to consider themselves indispensable, emphasizing that the church is enduring and would persist beyond any individual’s influence.
In a brief sermon, Venerable J.C. Afi of Andoni Archdeaconry of CACN charged the newly elevated ministers to be unwavering in their service to the Lord’s vineyard.
Speaking on the theme, “Our labour shall not be in vain,” Afi emphasized the importance of staying focused on God without seeking assistance elsewhere.
Speaking to the audience, Needam, who is also the publisher of National Network Newspaper, pledged to uphold the weighty responsibilities accompanying his new rank.
He expressed gratitude to God and affirmed his commitment to prioritise service to God, church, and humanity over personal interests.
