The House of Representatives yesterday stressed the urgent need for the federal government to reduce the cost of living among Nigerians.
Consequently, the House called on the federal government and all critical stakeholders to immediately open up the national food reserve and complement it by exploring the importation of grains, poultry products and meat, among others as a short-term measure to address the hardship.

It also appealed to manufacturers, producers, middlemen, salesmen and other relevant stakeholders, to temper justice with mercy and to be very realistic in the aggressive manners at which prices are increased on goods and services.

The House’s position followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka at plenary.
Moving the motion, Isiaka said the skyrocketing expenses such as housing, food, healthcare, and education have seen significant increases in prices while the current inflation has eroded the purchasing power of individuals with higher prices for goods and services.
