Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South District in the National Assembly, has opened up on why he wants to govern Ondo State.
Ibrahim, who said he needed to use his 9 degrees and his brain to help the state, noted that “this is time I have to sort out human problems in this state.”

Addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital yesterday, Ibrahim said, “My programs are very straightforward, we are to create moral efficiency and moral knowledge and make the boarding more efficient.
“We must also map Ondo state borders for security networks and then ensure that we will never have any cases of kidnapping, by making Amotekun a classic unique security outfit that will come with a good strategy to challenge any security issues in our state.

“So one of the areas we are looking at is to ensure that everybody in Ondo state can go to sleep with their eyes closed and that’s topmost of our priority. Mapping every system, the tactical operations of Amotekun have to become more distinct in technology, I want an Amotekun who is IT-informed because I have a PhD in War.
“So we need to do more of IT, our government will ensure that Amotekun is IT compliant through strategy and renovation and is going to be well funded to ensure that the people of Ondo State can go and sleep.”
Ibrahim, who stated that he informed the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu about his ambition before his death, noted “We are going to face infrastructural development by making sure that we create employment through that.

According to him, “We should expect the bitumen act that I’m moving at the Senate, which is now at the third reading to be more prominent and classic in engagement.”
His words: “In the Northern senatorial district, we are going to do swap contracts, we are not going to spend kobo to do our roads. Also, the civil service will be very top instrumental that will running the government to ensure that they are computerised.
We are to devote powers to Commissioners to make them powerful so that they will not be running after the governor for any approval.”

On whether the death of Governor Akeredolu could affect his ambition, Ibrahim said “Maybe the death of Aketi has enhanced my chances because Aketi is a human being, he can be subjectively objective at the last minute. But now that he is no more, that possibility is written off completely. So whoever is there, wants to run for governor will meet me at the field.

“So Aketi’s death doesn’t affect my chances at all, but it would enhance my chances to win the governorship position of this state. So we are working seriously to win this election. And the President will never say that we should go and work for the incumbent governor.

“He can only appeal that maybe he prefers one person if you can prefer him and if you cannot go and do your election. So the President cannot say that I have taken this person so all of you should go and sit down. Even Buhari who is very clueless about anything can never do that.

“I don’t use people’s names to campaign, my campaign is very proud of my work. I’m not a desperate politician, I only want to help my state, if I get it I will develop the state and if you give me to somebody else I’m not going to die. So we are combing the strategy,” he said.
