The president of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Olusegun Mojeed, has expressed the Institute commitment to integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness (DEIB) across all facets without compromising competency in alignment with relevant legislation such as the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act.

Mojeed made this statement during his keynote address at the Blakskill event while unveiling anticipated HR trends, outlooks, and requirements for 2024.

The president expounded on crucial developments that will influence the human resources industry in the upcoming year, as it is a field constantly evolving.

He emphasised that one of these revolutionary trends is the transformation towards remote and hybrid work settings, which are expected to endure. Consequently, organisations must adapt to this changing dynamic.

Additionally, advanced communication technologies will persistently dismantle conventional barriers and enable organisations to establish ‘teams without borders.’

Another significant trend highlighted for the upcoming year is the paradigm shift towards hiring for skills. “ Recruiters and leaders are poised to redirect their focus to hiring based on skills rather than tenure experience, emphasising that the global mobility of labour will make highly skilled candidates readily available and accessible to recruiters.”

The CIPM boss also underscored the pivotal role that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play in steering crucial HR activities, encompassing talent acquisition, performance management, employee services, and communication. “AI’s data-driven approach will profoundly influence talent attraction and performance prediction, resulting in substantial time and resource savings.”

Mojeed emphasised on embracing diversity, as it is not only an ethical principle but also a competitive advantage, said: “CIPM is committed to integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness (DEIB) across all facets without compromising competence, aligning with relevant legislation such as the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act,” he said.
