The management of Dorman Engineering Company made these remarks at its 75th anniversary to mark the company’s significant milestone in shaping the future of Sub Saharan African with its improvement in local content growth in steel, construction and fabrication.
The leading steel company celebrated three-quarter century existence which speaks volumes about the company’s strength, resilience, and adaptability.
Established in 1949 as part of the British Steel Corporation, it has not only outlived colonialism and military rule but thrived, transforming into a leading Nigerian company. This remarkable journey stands as a powerful testament to the transformative power of vision, quality, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Earlier, the company unveiled a new logo and brand identity, reflecting its continued evolution and commitment to progress. The theme, “Forged in Steel,” embodies the company’s core values of strength, resilience and unwavering support inspired by the unique shapes found in fabricated steel beams and core engineering structures.
The new anniversary logo represents the strength and fluidity of steel, while retaining a sense of heritage and tradition.
Speaking at the event, managing director, chief executive officer of Dorman Long Engineering, Chris Ijeli said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate 75 years of service to Nigeria. This milestone is a proof of Dorman Long’s dedication as well as the hard work of our employees, partners, and stakeholders,”
He revealed that Dorman Long provided the structural steel for the iconic first Niger Bridge that people see presently and contributed to countless other vital projects, from factories and dams to oil & gas infrastructure with major players in the sector.
Also speaking, chairman of Dorman Long Engineering, Dr. Timi Austen-Peters, while presenting the company’s strategic vision for the future, emphasised its focus on expanding its services and contributing to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
He outlined plans for future investments in other sectors like technology, skills development, and partnerships to propel the company towards even greater achievements.
