Police Arrest 4 Persons Over Anambra PG’s Murder

Anambra State police command has arrested four suspected killers of the president-general in Umuoji town union in Idemili-South LGA of Anambra state, Mr. Silas Onyima .
Mr. Onyima was assassinated in his Umuoji home on Friday night hoodlums.

Public Relations Officer of the Anambra state police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu in a statement yesterday stated that a team the state command’s detectives has apprehended four persons in connection with the assassination of the community leader while four others implicated in the dastardly act.
He said that the commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye was forced to cut short his official assignment at Ibadan, for the opening ceremony of the 14th Biennial Police Games, and, rushed back to the state to co-ordinate operations for tracking down the killers of Mr. Onyima.

He said that CP Adeoye has ordered manhunt on the fleeing four suspected killers of Mr. Onyima disclosing that the four persons were named by the four suspects already in the police command’s net.
The state police command image-maker disclosed that the arrest of the four suspects was a collaboration between the state police command’s detectives attached to Ogidi police station and Umuoji community vigilante group members.

“The handset and ATM card of the deceased ( Umuoji president -general) were discovered from them (arrested four suspects)”,the state police command image-maker stated.
The PPRO further stated that the state police boss has directed the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), to deploy its forensic team to the scene where Mr. Onyima was assassinated and take over investigation of the incident, and, make sure that all those other suspects now on the run were apprehended.
CP Adeoye also ordered the detectives to establish the reason for the assassination of the community leader.

The state police boss, who commended both the police at Ogidi and Umuoji vigilante group members, assured the people of the state and indeed presidents-general of communities in the state of adequate security by the men of the state police command.
