The Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN) has expressed concern about the frequent power outages affecting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and has urged government action to address the issue.
In a statement released in Abuja by its executive director, Festus Adebayo, HDAN highlighted the significant impact of the electricity situation on residents and businesses in the nation’s capital.
“The current situation in the FCT has become a matter of great concern. Residents and business owners are facing unprecedented challenges due to the persistent power outages,” Adebayo said.

The network emphasised the need for government intervention to resolve the issue and alleviate the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other businesses.
“We urge the relevant authorities, including the Minister of Power and the Minister of FCT, to engage with stakeholders in the electricity sector to find solutions to the ongoing power supply challenges,” he added.
HDAN stressed the importance of addressing the issue promptly to prevent further negative impacts on businesses and the economy.
“We have all been complaining about the increase in the price of cement and building materials; this is one of the major causes of this problem.
When a business has to use a generator 24/7 and expects to sell products at affordable rates for the common people, it becomes impossible,” the statement added.
