Ramadan Tafsir: Yobe Tasks Imams On Moral Re-orientation, Peace, Tolerance Sermons, Yobe Govt Charges Imams

As Ramadan commences, the Yobe State deputy governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) has declared open a one-day interactive session with the chief imams of Jummat Mosques and preachers across the 17 Local Government Areas.

A statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh said the purpose of the meeting was organised with a view to prepare the Imams for the annual Ramadan lectures in addition to interact and exchange ideas that will help in delivering Jumma’at sermons and Ramadan Tafsir.

The Deputy Governor enjoined them to avoid issues that will send and encourage wrong interpretation among worshipers but rather follow the good deeds and lessons of the prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him.
“At this juncture, may I use this medium and appeal to you to preach
for peace, tolerance and harmony in addition to prioritizing the propagation of basic knowledge about five pillars of Islam in your daily or weekly sermons throughout the Ramadan period.

“It is also very important for parents to take charge of their responsibilities, especially educating their children on the religious teachings and values for them to be conscious of the existence of Allah.”
The commissioner Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation, Hon Yusuf said the interactive session was to prepare the ulamas on the task before them, especially on ethical values during Ramadan.

Also, the special adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustas Babagana Mallan kyari, appealed to preachers and chief imams of Jumma’at Mosques to use their sermon in seeking for Allah’s forgiveness, intensify prayers and eschew incisive comments.
Speaking on behalf of the chief Imams, the chief Imam of Bade, Imam Umar Ahmad Talba Kura, commended the state government for bringing them together to have a proper way of propagating Islam.
He said the government should find a way in bringing all the ulamas across the state together to brainstorm and come up with a holistic and simple way of delivering messages.
