While thanking the management of Julius Berger for the warm reception, president of the institute, Bldr. Sir. Alderton Ewa Ewa commended Julius Berger for adhering to best practices in the industry, saying that the NIOB will continue to work with responsible organisations toward the promotion of the building profession.

He said the NIOB will continue to provide direction and seek to influence policy matters through its advocacy, adding that it will improve the institute’s standing and wellbeing of its members.

Ewa, who described Julius Berger as a major stakeholder in the building and construction industry, said the NIOB will work with the organisation to ensure entrenchment of professionalism while attaining the goals of the Institute.

“We will work with Julius Berger to provide sustainable shelter that will address the housing needs of the nation through research, development and global best practices,” he stated.

Ewa further commended Julius Berger for creating jobs for registered builders.

According to him, “As an Institute, we appreciate the opportunity given to a number of our members to be part of your (Julius Berger) labour force and even occupying key positions,” he said, adding that the integral role played by the company in shaping the groundwork for progress through construction of significant industrial and civil infrastructure is commendable.

“Julius Berger has built key road networks, essential bridges, vital buildings and important manufacturing facilities, all of which augment the advancement of a modern-day Nigeria,” adding that the company should support the ongoing construction of the Institute’s Skills and Research Development Centre at Lugbe, Abuja, which is at the foundation level.”

The president acknowledged the over 50 years’ contribution of Julius Berger to the development of the Nigerian construction industry.
