The Kano State Islamic Police, Hisbah, on Tuesday apprehended 11 persons caught for eating daytime in the month of Ramadan.
Muslim faithful globally are observing the compulsory 29 or 30 days fasting in month considered as sacred in the Islamic calendar.
Recall that Muslims all over the world commenced the Ramadan fasting sequel to the spotting of crescent moon on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
A BBC Hausa News report monitored by our correspondent on Wednesday, however revealed that the 11 arrested persons comprised 10 males and one female.
The arrest followed an unexpected visit paid by the HISBAH officers to restaurants in parts of the state to monitor compliance among residents with the compulsory Ramadan fasting.
The report also disclosed that the arrested female, a groundnuts seller, was eating from her wares when she was arrested by the Hisbah police.
Spokesperson of the Hisbah in the state, Lawal Fagge told BBC, that the apprehended Muslims men were eating around places where social activities take place.
Fagge however explained that the organisation does not go after non-Muslims eating daytime during the fasting period in the state.
