NIMC DG Parleys Senators On Challenges In NIN Enrollment

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has met with the Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population to discuss some of the challenges facing the Commission and strategies to address them.

The meeting, chaired by the committee’s Deputy Chairman, Senator Gbenga Daniel, provided a platform for the NIMC DG to present an overview of issues confronting the agency, ranging from infrastructural constraints to logistical challenges in NIN enrollment.

At the meeting, Engr. Coker-Odusote underscored NIMC’s unwavering commitment to overcoming these challenges and deliver on its mandate of providing a robust and universally recognized national identification system.

In a statement by Ayodele Babalola, the Technical Adviser, Media, and Communications, the NIMC boss also highlighted some ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, improving operational efficiency, and expanding the reach of NIN enrollment services across the country.

Coker-Odusote also reaffirmed NIMC’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to achieve its objectives.

She assured the Committee of NIMC’s determination to implement the recommendations arising from the discussions.

In his own remarks, Sen. Daniel spoke about the need for teamwork and national interest in NIMC operation while pledging the Senate’s support for finding sustainable solutions to the Commission’s challenges.

The statement added that the DG’s interface with the Senate Committee meeting reflects NIMC’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and stakeholders’ engagement in its efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s identity management infrastructure.
