The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has charged reigning champion, Enyimba International for breach of the tournament’s Framework & Rules during their Matchday 24 fixture vs Doma Utd.

Enyimba failed to provide adequate & effective security in the course of the match leading to poor crowd control and unauthorised persons gaining access to restricted areas.

There was also encroachment onto the pitch at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba by unauthorised persons.

This is in addition to disruption of live broadcast of the match, owing to the unsporting behaviour of Enyimba and failure to control the crowd.

Consequently a fine of N1 million has been imposed on Enyimba for failing to provide adequate & effective security, and preventing unauthorised persons from gaining access to restricted areas.

Enyimba has also been fined N1 million for encroachment onto the field of play.

The champions will pay a further fine of N5 million for the disruption of the live broadcast.

The Enyimba Stadium will be closed to fans for the next 3 home matches of the Aba Elephants.

For Doma United, it has been charged for breaching NPFL Framework & Rules in the course of the match at Enyimba on 10 March 2024.

According to the league body, Doma United conducted themselves in a manner capable of bringing the game to disrepute.

NPFL said Doma also failed to ensure the proper conduct of their players & officials in the course the match vs Enyimba.

As a result, Doma Utd has been fined N1 million for misconduct capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

Another N1 million fine has been imposed on the team for general misconduct and failure to ensure proper conduct of their players & officials.
