Over sixty thousand displaced persons are currently taking refuge at various refugees camps in Cross River State after losing their homes or thrown out of their places of origin due to conflicts.

Representative of Red Cross Society in Cross River State, Dr. Asuquo Enoch, disclosed the figure on Monday while addressing participants during a road walk in continuation of World Tuberculosis Day in Calabar, the state capital.

Asuquo stated that the refugees whom he claimed live in clusters at various camps were in dire need of intervention.

“They stay in clusters and in dire need of intervention,” Asuquo maintained.

Also speaking during the campaign and street walk against tuberculosis infection, World Health Organization’s representative, Dr Juliet Ubom, expressed the preparedness of the global health body to continue with provision of technical support in tackling the disease.

She noted that the WHO is at a moment, championing immunisation across the state, providing BCG and pledged further the continuation of the scheme.
