Delta State government has condemned the attitude of dropping wastes on the road median, inside drainages and the blockage it causes to free-flow of water especially when it rains.

It warned residents and business owners to desist from such act as plans are on to arrest and prosecute anyone caught in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The director general (DG), Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Hon Patrick Ukah, stated this during the inspection of residential and business premises within the capital territory and its environs.

He further stated that the Magistrates at Mobile Courts have commenced prosecution of landlords, occupiers and business owners of premises that contravene the sanitation laws.

Ukah advised residents, traders, business owners, keke drivers and other critical stakeholders to cooperate with the inspection/enforcement teams as it is going to be a continuous exercise towards the environmental sustainability of the state capital and its environs

The DG appealed to residents to register with waste managers and promised to sanction any of the waste managers that defaults.
