SP Ikenga stated that police swooped on the criminal gangs following the attacks on the Awgbu police station in Orumba-North LGA and Neni police station in Anaocha LGA within the past two weeks.

Infuriated by the attacks by the criminal gangs, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye declared manhunt on the perpetrators.

Ikenga stated that CP Adeoye deployed joint security forces with an order to fish out and arrest the hoodlums to make sure that faced the consequences of their actions in the law Court.

The CP also directed the team to identify any insurgents’ hideout anywhere in the state and destroy them.

The police spokesman stated that earlier JTF had destroyed a camp belonging to the insurgents in the same Ogbunka community and another one in Achalla community in Awka-North LGA of the state.

The state police command’s spokesman stated that CP Adeoye has assured all law-abiding residents of the state, and, the citizens returning home for the Easter celebration of adequate security to their lives and property, promising that the manhunt on hoodlums, and, raid on their hideouts would continue until all of them were routed out of the state.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police sends warm greetings to Ndi Anambra at Easter. He prays that the peace of Christ which passeth all understanding reigns across the length and breath of the state”, SP Tochukwu stated in his press statement.

He, however, urged residents of the state to assist the police command by identifying hideouts of insurgents seeking to destabilise the state, and, assured that any such information would be treated with utmost secrecy and the source jealously protected against any harm.
