Borno State Police Command has disclosed the arrest of eight suspects in connection with the killing of a University of Maiduguri lecturer, Dr Abdulkadir Kamal.
Dr Kamal, a lecturer of the Department of Physical and Health Education, was gruesomely murdered by unknown person(s) in his office at the university on Sunday.
The spokesman of Borno Police Command, ASP Daso Kenneth, disclosed the arrest to journalists yesterday in Maiduguri.
He said upon receiving the details of the incident, their men swung into action and arrested immediately the cornered eight suspects in connection with the murder.
He said," The command has received a distress call on the murder of Dr. Kamal, it was confirmed that he was murdered in his office and his car got stolen by the killers.
“Eight people have so far been arrested and they are undergoing investigation to unravel those behind the act.”
The PPRO also called for calm, adding that the situation is under control.
Earlier report from intelligence sources revealed to a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst,
Zagazola Makama, in Lake Chad, that the victim was found dead in a pool of blood with several injuries
inflicted on his bodies by the killers.
The sources said, “His hands were peeled off when he tried to stop the attackers from stabbing him.
They also used a hammer to smash his head and his spinal cord, killing him instantly.” The killers carted
away his vehicle and other valuables.
