All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Niger State Umar Mohammed Bago has declared that he does not subscribe to politics of ‘thuggery and hooliganism’ and will join the fight against the menace.
This came on the heels of alleged intensification of campaign by his political opponents to associate him with several activities of thugs and youth restiveness.
Bago spoke on the issues concerning youth restiveness, especially in Minna recently, during a strategic security meeting which took place at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre yesterday.
He said, “Let this be very clear, I am not a thug, I have never been a thug and I don’t subscribe to thuggery and hooliganism. I have never sent anyone to cause chaos or confusion and I will never, ever do that. To all of you Youths who are here today and those of you not here and are of the habit of thuggery and hooliganism, I am not part of you and I will not be part of you forever.”
“I am saying it loud and clear today that anyone caught disrupting the peace of our dear state and it’s people should be decisively dealt with according to the provisions of the law and I am prepared to support the Police and all other security agencies in ensuring that the menace of hooliganism is permanently curbed,” he stated.
The APC governorship candidate also said that he personally joins the police to patrol the streets to ensure the “success of nipping in the bud this madness.”
The meeting organised to interface with target youth groups causing chaos in Minna the state capital recently was presided over by the deputy governor Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso and powered by secretary to the state government Ahmed Matane.
