Kogi State governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Wednesday, confirmed the arrest of some of the masterminds of the attack on Agojeju Odo village in Omala local government area of the State.
Governor Ododo revealed this while addressing journalists shortly after observing his Eid-el-fitri two-raka’a prayers at the Okene Eid praying ground.
LEADERSHIP recalls that about 25 persons were killed and several houses set ablaze in Agojeju Odo in Omala local government area of the the State when gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the community.
Fielding questions on the attack, Governor Ododo told journalists that the suspected attackers had been arrested, and that further investigation was still underway.
Ododo said he was not perturbed by the recent attacks on his administration from naysayers over alleged lacklustre and inaction, arguing that he would not dignify the promoters with a response.
Gov Ododo said, “Reacting to noise makers, and those that do not have stake as far as governance is concerned, is not part of the mandate given to me by the good people of Kogi State and Mr President.
“The crisis in Bagana in Omala Local Government did not start today. It has been in existence for over 45 years ago, precisely 1978. We are doing our best to make sure peace is restored within the area.
“As I speak to you today, the suspected sponsors have been arrested, investigation are ongoing. They are giving us useful information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects. As soon as we are done with that investigation, the report will be made known to the public.”
