Rampaging bandits Wednesday evening invaded the Angwar Danko village in Kakangi Constituency of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State where they abducted a yet-to-be-ascertained number of persons.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the bandits stormed the community in large numbers around 6 pm on Wednesday, shooting sporadically before whisking their victims away.

A source confirmed that the abductees whose number he could not ascertain were marched into the forest by the hoodlums.

Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, representative for Kakangi Ward in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, confirmed the incident.

Although he said the numbers of the abductees are yet to be confirmed, he said they are in their dozens.

“I just received a call from the area informing me that dozens of my constituents have been abducted. The bandits surrounded the village, and as we speak, they are still there, taking their victims into the forest, the situation is dire,” he said.

Dan Salio expressed concern, noting that most of the victims were men and suggesting that there could be casualties, stressing the urgent need for authorities to deploy more security checkpoints in the area to restrict the movement of bandits.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the State Police Command, ASP Mansur Hassan told journalists that he would contact the area for details before providing further comments.

Hassan, however, did not revert at the time of filing this report and no official statement has been issued by the government on the incident.
