National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has approached a Federal High Court in Kano to obtain a court order to halt his suspension from the party.

The former Kano State governor filed an ex parte application by invoking Section 46 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, requiring the Court to intervene in the decisions made during an emergency meeting of the executive members of the APC, Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

The presiding judge, Justice A.M. Liman thereby issued an order restraining the ward APC executives led by Haladu Gwanjo and eight others by preventing them from implementing or enforcing any decisions reached during the said meeting dated April 4, 2024.

The court ruled that the interim order subsists pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit for the enforcement of the applicant’s rights before it.

Justice Liman granted the order after reviewing the affidavit supporting the motion and hearing arguments from the applicant’s legal representatives, Barristers Jazuli Mustapha and Hadiza Ahmed.

The respondents named in the case include Haladu Gwanjo, Nalami Mai AC, Muhammad Baiti, Danmalam Gale, Musa Lado, Laminu Sani Barguma, Umar Sanda, Auwalu Galadima, and Abubakar Dauda, who represent the first to ninth respondents, respectively.

In addition to restraining the respondents from taking any further actions based on the meeting, the court directed all parties involved in the suit to maintain the status quo ante pending the resolution of the substantive application.

The court has fixed hearing on the substantive matter to April 30, 2024 to delve further into the matter.
