Mrs Otti announced this during a working visit to the centre, which is run by Amaudo Integrated Community Mental Health Foundation, an arm of Methodist Church of Nigeria.

The first lady, who donated food palliatives and an undisclosed sum of money to the centre, further indicated the preparedness of her office to partner the foundation to bring succour to the inmates.

“It gives me great joy to have the opportunity to visit this important facility that I have heard so much about and for the wonderful work that is being done here.

“In no distant time, the poor road network leading to the centre will be a thing of the past in addition to attending to other critical concerns raised by the management of the centre.

“I thank God for the present administration in the state. It is focused on uplifting the residents after many years of being neglected. Governor Alex Otti has come to lift them out of poverty and improve their welfare,” she said.

She lauded the missionary/founder of the 35-year-old centre, Rosalind Colwill for her sacrifices and commitment to assisting humanity, promising to build a structure at the centre in her honour.

She extolled the director of the foundation and a minister in the church, Kenneth Nwubani for his “selfless work for God and humanity.”

In his address after conducting Mrs Otti round the facility, Nwubani thanked her for her concern for the inmates, donations and pledges, saying the gestures spoke volume of the drive of the governor to rebuild the state.
