The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has decried with immense concern the biting hunger among citizens as a result of shortage of food supply due to persistent insecurity that has paralysed the activities of rural farmers in the country.

ECWA, in a communique issued at the end of her 71st General Church Council (GCC) meeting held in Jos at weekend, urged the federal and state governments to urgently put in measures that will checkmate insecurity and ensure that rural farmers resume their farming activities especially now that the rainy season is setting in.

The communique which was jointly signed by ECWA president, Rev (Dr) Stephen Panya and general secretary, Rev Ayuba Asheshe

observed the harsh economic policies by the Federal Government which has made life difficult for Nigerian citizens without corresponding dynamic arrangements to cushion the effect of such policy.

According to the church, the subsidy removal on petroleum products and an increase in electricity tariff have affected the cost of goods and services in the country adding that government should put in place appropriate mechanisms to reduce the hardship of the citizens.

The church however expressed satisfaction with the recent proactive measures put in by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to checkmate naira devaluation which has yielded a significant stability of the naira against the dollar stressing that this effort should be sustained to help curb inflation and reduce the cost of goods and services since Nigeria is an import dependent economy.

ECWA further cautioned on the war between Israel and other middle East countries and enjoined all parties and the United Nations (UN) to tread softly in other to avert escalation of the crises to a global war and enjoined believers across the globe to remain steadfast and prayerful.
