Addressing the corps members, Governor AbdulRazaq said his administration has been giving

adequate support and assistance to the management of NYSC in executing all its programmes in the state.

Represented by the senior adviser/ counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, the governor recalled that: “This time in 2019, this facility was an eyesore. We have greatly improved the facility. As part of the state government’s efforts to make life more conducive and ensure adequate security on camp, our administration has recently approved and commenced the perimeter fencing of the orientation camp.

“I wish to further pledge, on behalf of the government and the good people of Kwara State, our continuous support to the welfare and security of corps members currently serving and newly deployed to Kwara State for national service.”

He enjoined the corps members to always present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their various families and the NYSC scheme, by exhibiting the sterling qualities of “Service and Humility”, which is the motto of the NYSC.

The governor charged them   to be purposefully involved in all camp activities such as the physical training, paramilitary drills, lectures, citizenship and leadership training.

“Dear corps members, you are to adopt a conscientious approach to the various activities of the orientation course in order to be able to face the numerous challenges of the assignments ahead. You should not allow anything to affect your commitment to achieve the expected qualities of future leaders, which the NYSC scheme is designed to prepare you for.

“ I urge you to justify the confidence reposed in you as leaders of this great nation, by making patriotism discipline, good conduct, honesty and hard-work your watchwords, throughout the duration of the course and thereafter,” he added.

In her remarks, the commissioner for youth development, Hajiya Nafisat Buge, corroborated the submission of Governor AbdulRazaq by assuring the corps members that their welfare and security “ remain top priorities of the state government.”

Earlier, the state director of NYSC, Mr Onifade Olaoluwa, thanked the governor for donating 1,000 mattresses to the camp, the second phase of the perimeter fencing of the camp and provision of meal subsidy for corps members as well as the fumigation of the orientation camp.
