In a notable development in the Nigerian literary community, author Ndifreke Ukpong has made two of his important books, ‘Every Woman in This Village is a Liar’ and ‘No Limitation to Success’, available to the reading public at no cost.

‘Every Woman in This Village is a Liar’ is a narrative set in the fictional village of Osom, where the story revolves around the disappearance of a grand prince and the subsequent events that test the fortitude and complexity of the village women.

The title, which has sparked discussions, serves as a commentary on societal tendencies to form judgments without full understanding.

The book has been recognised for its layered narrative and its capacity to challenge the reader’s initial perceptions.

A reviewer remarked, “The novel encourages a deeper examination of the truths and lies that define each character’s life.”

The story’s climax, which introduces an unexpected twist, has been noted for its ability to alter the entire narrative, suggesting a more intricate reality in Osom than the title might initially indicate.

Ukpong’s decision to make the novel freely accessible was a response to public interest in more affordable reading options.

“Instead of just lowering the price, I decided to make it free,” the author stated, reflecting his intention to encourage societal discourse through his work.

The second book, ‘No Limitation to Success’, offers insights into overcoming adversity and serves as a motivational guide.

“Success is not determined by your environment; it’s determined by your choices,” Ukpong was quoted as saying.

The book has gained attention for its motivational message and practical guidance. A reviewer highlighted that, “Ukpong’s narrative showcases the enduring power of determination and the unlimited nature of human potential.”

Ukpong’s own accomplishment of writing 26 books by the age of 26 was cited as an example of what can be achieved when one is not confined by their circumstances.

Ukpong has also expressed concerns about the future of writing in Nigeria, urging young people to recognise the importance of writing.

“Writing is a powerful tool that can shape nations and explore the human condition,” he noted.

By making his books freely available to the reading public, Ukpong aimed to promote a culture of reading and writing that is accessible to everyone, regardless of economic status. His actions highlighted the role of literature as a catalyst for change, offering hope and guidance in challenging times.

Ukpong’s gesture of making his significant books freely accessible is a noteworthy act within the literary community. His works, which delve into depth and motivational clarity, now stand as resources for readers and aspiring authors, shedding light on the path to achievement and insight in a world often marked by limitations and quick judgments. His aim in writing is to provide hope and make a meaningful impact on lives worldwide, particularly in countries facing hardship, using literature as a means to address these challenges.
